My 10 month old's room is very safe for her to play in (with limited supervision). However, the windows freak me out. How do I keep her from getting hurt by windows, curtains, blinds, exct.?????

  1. dont leave a 10 month old unsupervised.

blinds are not a good thing to have unless they are secured top and bottom and the strings are up high out of reach...

Have the window locked at all times and anything the baby can use to climb on infront of window, should be removed. if the window is standard, then it should be about 3 feet off the floor or so, so you shouldnt worry about him that much. if you have windows to the floor, just supervise him at all times, like you should anyways, right.

  2. Never leave the cord from the blinds in a length where she can grab it ... Id put a thumb tack on the side of the window near the middle and I wrap the cord around it ... unless your blinds already come with a hook attached ...

Keep the curtains short so that she doesnt pull on them and the rod fall over her head ...

and make sure if you have neighbors real close or the window faces the street that the window is covered at all times ...

  3. Wow you're paranoid. It's called a crib/safety gate.

  4. i wouldn't get blinds. That's definitely a must not. they have cords that hang down, and there have been several deaths from accidental strangulation. I would suggest either getting double glass windows, (Very durable, difficult to break, although quite expensive) and window treatments that don't involve cords. Good luck!

  5. Okay, they sell something - I can't remember what it's called - but it's like a thin sheet of clear plastic or something so that if the window breaks, it stays in place...even if it shatters, it stays in place. So it won't harm your daughter.

Instead of blinds, go with a shade. When I was a kid I couldn't figure out how to pull the cord so I had a pull down shade. I think it's fairly safe. And go with soft and small curtains. Not too long, just enough to cover the windows. And, you can keep the shade down all the time so no one can see in the window. It'll be very safe.
