  1. You really don't want to focus on just the good things in life.  That's just not what life is about. Life is about good things and bad things.  There's no avoiding it.  Feeling bad about losing a loved one, or feeling bad because you did poorly in school, feeling bad because someone won't be your friend, or because someone doesn't like you - these are all part of life.  Too many people want to avoid "bad" feelings.  That's not good.  Allow yourself to feel sad and it will pass much faster than if you resist it.  You'll appreciate the good times more when you know what it means to hurt.

  4. I know it's hard to stop yourself from focusing on the bad side of things because that negative feeling is so strong and some people let that feeling get to them. You know there is a good side to things and that focusing on the positive and good things is more healthier for you and you can benefit from it more. Just ask yourself if there is a point to focusing on the negative things in life. You will realize that there isn't a point to them except that they bring you down emotionally and create even more negative impacts in your life. But focusing on the good in life will only encourage you to keep living life and to succeed and not give up. It has a positive impact on you and puts you in a good mood. That is how you can look at the good side of things because you know that you are actually gaining something positive from them.
