Good observation Lou. How do you keep your shoulders horizontal to prevent the slices and hooks? Have a drill or suggestion?

  1. How do you keep your shoulders horizontal? One drill that i used and helped was having someone hold your shoulders while you swing. After doing that 10-15 times try by doing it your self.


  2. It's all in the hips. Don't make the arms do too much work. Use the larger muscles that do not allow for much variation like those found near the hips.

  3. On the downswing have your left arm travel at 12:30 to 1 o'clock from the inside out. This action will keep your shoulders in the proper postion.

  4. before your swing, maybe at the range or something so you can practice it, warm up by doing a baseball swing with the golf club. swing like that about 3-5 times, and then hit the ball. just make sure that you dont dip down into the ball, and only twist your body, dont sway.

  5. Focus on bringing your left shoulder under your chin on the backswing, then turning your right shoulder under your chin on the follow through. This helps me when I start to tilt my shoulders.
