  1. Well, I blow the whistle and ring the bell a lot, check on the track warrants and bulletins, monitor the air pressure. watch the train for any defects that may arise causing potential danger.

Speed and train control are things that constantly need to be watched.

Swap hunting and fishing stories with my work partner, eat my lunch.

    Or . . . . . . . did you mean as a passenger??

    sorry, my bad

  2. I take a 3 hour ride twice a month... I carry a book (Steven King, Tom Clancy, etc), my MP3, my sketch-book, and camera.

Sometimes I SLEEP like I did on Trans-Pacific flights.

  3. Read or listen to my ipod.

  4. Take a book to read, or a laptop to mess around on or to watch a DVD on...then of course you could buy a paper or a magazine, or even a quiz book!

  5. Simple!!! Listen to songs from my cellphone, use the train's entertainment system. Eat in the train's ( in train meal) ---(similar to the in flight meal) and others

  6. read, eat, sleep, swap lies about job/life/family with the person sitting with you.

  7. Ive got a hole in my pocket...figure out the rest.

  8. Read and look at the landscape. I travel by train a great deal and my journeys help me read a book a week

  9. First of all, I enjoy the view. I try to take pics though they dont come out so good. I tend to feel sleepy on a moving train. So, I do take short naps in between. I catch up on book reading, solving crosswords and ofcourse iPod is a must.

The best thing I like doing on a long train ride is to observe fellow passengers. Sometimes, we can pick up conversations and learn new things from them.

Well, these are some of the activities which keep me busy on a long train ride.

  10. Long train rides suck. hopefully they have sockets where you can plug in a laptop computer. the you can watch DVDs and play games. The new "Gears of War" for PC is pretty good. you need a nice graphics card for it though. Make sure you get a mouse for it also. If you can't afford a laptop, get a Nintendo DS with a final fantasy game or Mario game. that will kill allot of time.

  11. Reading, sleeping, listening music or talking with someone and sometimes - it's kind of relaxing just look outside of window. After that, sleep mode turns on automatically :)

  12. my ipod.

  13. Count moose.
