Question:

How do you kick higher?

i've been practicing for sooooo long and i have my splits down but people say that just because you have a good split doesn't mean you can kick high. is that true?

can you give me some exercises to help me acheive a perfect high kick?

  1. you just need to practice.....................just streghthen your legs by going from posse to 90 degrees-that helps. just try hard, and you'll get it :)


  2. yes this is true.. i am extremely flexible but my muscles are weak so i have difficulty getting my leg high. if you are kicking it , feel like you are pushing away from the floor with the ball of your foot as you brush.

  3. don't know about dancing BUT: in Karate, there are many stretching exercises to "kick higher" that are elementary to the study of Martial Arts.

  4. You need to stretch...such as trying to get down to the splitz.  Also, the common stretch of laying on your lack and lifting one of your legs and pulling it up in front of you towards your head.  Then straighten your leg and try to pull it towards you.

    Your other leg must remain flat on the ground.

    Also, build up strength to achieve your flexibility in kicking.  Other than practicing kicking higher, you can also rest your leg on a chair or window sill that is higher than what you usually kick to.  When you feel comfortable, lift your leg off of what it is resting on and hold it up.
