  1. If you don't wish to use pesticides, try glueboard traps - they are inexpensive and you can place them in the corners of your room, under cabinets, under furniture... where the children cannot reach them (or generally not play with them).

Glueboards (or "sticky traps") can be purchased from your local exterminator's shop, and hardware stores.  Get the larger ones that are used for mice - they have a thicker layer of glue, and spiders, centipedes, and even sow bugs, will stick to them and dry out.  Replace the traps every couple of months.

Also, a good vacuum cleaner (with disposable bags) will enable you to keep down the numbers of insect pests; use the nozzle attachment to get into all the nooks and crannies.

  2. Try to seal cracks where they are coming in. The best bet is to spray poisonin all the corners, but with kids, I would suggest you try to find something that is not dangerous for kids. Or you can try spraying in places your kids cannot get to, like under the fridge, or other places where your kids would not be able to touch.

TAT spray comes with a very thin straw that lets you spray into cracks and corners, so the poison is not actually 'in'  the room.

  3. indoor foggers work kill and keep the spiders and centipedes away. Yes they are chemicals, but I have seen were people didn't want to use such items and ended up taking their little kids to the emergency room after the kid was bitten by a spider while the kid was asleep. Just activate the fogger. Wait the alloted time. Come back and open all windows and door and leave the house for 30 minutes. If you are concerned about the kids and foggers. Cover up the things that the kids would put in their mouth's and wash everything in the house. After trying the non-chemical things, my daughter was bitten. I tried the foggers next and washed everything down that the child might get into and everything was insect free and fine.
