  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCfOQpwqp...

this is an extract from a gray-nicolls dvd dmonstrating the process of knocking in plus just knock in the edges at 45 degree angle and knock in the whole hitting area which the ball could damage then start with light taps gradually getting larger remember "dont just tap it WHACK IT"

  2. When was the last time you saw cricket being played with a mallet or a ball in a sock? Use an old cricket ball with a hole drilled through the middle.Attach a handle made from timber through the hole (tapered dowel would be best). The handle can be glued in place & used in the same way as a mallet.

  3. bring a wood p****r to you house. leave it near your bat.

Or go through some of these pages on this google search page

  5. A lot of patience!! I've just finished knocking in my new bat.  Coat of linseed oil all over bat (except stickers and splice).  Then sandpaper down to get rid of excess.  Another coat on the front and edges.  More sandpapering.  Possible third coat on front.  Another sandpaper.  Leave for 24 hours after oiling before sandpapering each time.  Then, batting mallet or ball in sock and start hitting the bat (all over).  Could take up to 10 hours of knocking in using bat mallet.

    Good Luck!!

  6. u take a soccer ball and glue it into the cricket bat.

  7. First you need to get some linseed oil & oil your bat & let it dry ( if it's not pre-oiled).

You can do a few coats of oil. After the oil is dry get a good strong sock & put a cricket ball inside the sock. Then you just repeatedly wack the bat with the sock & ball. The sock just lets you get a good action of knocking it in. After a while it should be pretty strong.

  8. well after you have oiled it, one method is to put a cricket ball in a long sock and swing it so it hits the the bat or an easier way is you can go to any sports/cricket store and buy a mallet. remember don't hit the top and the bottom to hard try and knock it in the middle. after about and 2-3 hours of overall knocking ur bat should be ready!
