How do you know a NICE guy doesn't like you?

It's hard to tell if they're not interested because they don't like hurting people's feelings in general, therefore they are a bit more passive than most guys. Any tips?

yeah well if i like a chick i kinda go out of my way to start a convo ask questions about her etc. but girls that talk to me first and i dont like them that way and arent really my mate i just answer there question and sometimes say You?
