we have a simple concrete job 5x15 ft appox.

not tall or fancy just a simple slab it should probably be couple hours work

but how does one know how much it should cost

when contracters come out and give estimates.

we understand it is important to get several estimates -

what we need to know is how does one know how much something like this (concrete ) work should be -

  1. If you get several estimates, then that's what is costs. If you're paying someone else to do it, it costs whatever they charge you. If one is a lot higher than the others, then pick one that costs less.

  2. u have 45 sq.ft. aproximate .concrete depending on the  area price  per  sq.ft.6-10 $ a  sq.ft.they are other  variables.a guestimate of  your project should  range from  400$ to 1000$

  3. look around ask questions find friends that have had concrete done.

if you aren't doing any of the work yourself then it's going to cost more.

    ask about hidden costs too.

    Expect unexpected costs too.

we just did a slab for a shed 24x40 We had to get a permit 150$

    Dig it out 450$

    gravel(we used stone) 850$

Put down sm insulation used 600$

    Rebar and mesh about400$

cement then was supposed to be 15 cubic yards at 128$ and ended being 19 cubic yards.so a total of 3000$

Depends on what you are building but get a few quotes and be sure everything is included.

Go wit your gut not the price. who ever explains everything to you and has refrences who can verify the quality of their work.

It's not cheap but  just use your head.

  4. It will depend on how much prep work is required.  To hire someone to come in and do all the prep, provide the materials and labor it should be $8-10 per square foot depending on complexity.  If you take you 75 square foot (appx) that would be about $750.00.

This is also based on not having to bring in or haul away a lot of material.
