How do you know how to swim?

like i heard that when you a baby you atomaticly can swim the you forget why do you forget

  1. I don't think that a baby can automatically swim, but babies take to it very well.  It's like a lot of things, the older you become the tougher it is to learn new things.


  2. you're so young you don't retain the information.  then when you are born you get used to land and start to only remember that. That would be my best thought.

  3. You can't swim when you're a baby. You can simply automatically know when to hold your breath, and when to let it go. I don't know why you forget it, but you do for a couple of years I think, until somebody teaches you again or until you grow up enough to understand by yourself that you can't breathe underwater.

    Oh, and I guess, babies know how to float on water... But they've been in water for 9 months, so they can't be too uncomfortable with it. I don't know why they forget. But once you "formally" learn how to swim it becomes a knack and you can't forget it.
