Are there behaviors the child exhibits? How can you provide an environment for the child to feel safe to tell someone?

I am listening to the radio right now and this is what they are talking about. The guest speaker said it took her 10 years to say something about what her step-dad did. Her and her mother were very close and they talked about everything, except that. She made straight A's and was the captain of 3 sports teams at her school. So, I reiterate the questions.

  1. the source below I think will give you much information probably more than you need.

  2. Some ways may be that the child shies away from the person or doesn't want to go where that person may be.  The child may seem more timid and wnat to bathe much more frequently.  The best way to handle this situation is to make sure you have open communications with your child.  Let her know she is safe with you and you will never be angry with her if she has to tell you something like that.  Just try to let her know you are there for her no matter what the situation and really mean it.

  3. just let the child know ur there 4 them, n that no 1 will hurt them if they tell.
