How do you know if a guy is making fun of you?

But without making it obvious. How do you know if they're making fun of you without them directly saying "[your name] is so stupid".

If they are laughing or snickering funny at you when they don't think you can hear them... or sometimes right in front of your face.  If when you come around, everyone stops talking like you caught them.  Also... if they give you a mean nick name or treat you poorly... definitely not nice people.

If you think they are making fun of you.  Confront them, at least that way you'll have self respect.  Ask them right out when they are laughing... "is there something you wanted to say to me, because I don't appreciate the snickering!  Either they'll tell you right out what you wanted to know or they will assure you that they are not laughing.

Most likely though... even if they are laughing or making fun... they will be too cowardly to admit it to you when you confront them.  If they refuse to say anything to your question, tell them that at least they could be man enough to  say something to your face.

That will hit home to him!  Don't let anyone walk on you!  Life is too short as it is!  And remember bullies like to pick on people who don't stick up for themselves.
