How do you know if a guy is pulling away cause he is scared or just not interested anymore?

Scared as in you're coming on too strong? Maybe. More likely he's lost interest. Your best bet is to call him on his behavior and see what he has to say for himself.

Either way its a sign you should leave the relationshsip alone.  Its not your job to assist in helping with a guys confidence.  If he is scared he is far from ready for a relationship.

Guys get scared of their feelings, and bolt! They are not sure how they can be their defintion of a man, when they feel that out of control. Guys like control for the most part and when someone make them feel anxious, out of control, wanting to blow up their life plan (or lack therof) it doesnt fit their self image. So , they can (yes I did once myself) bolt.

The problem is there is no way I can think of to distinguish between the 2, except maybe the guy who likes you too much will probably be angry, frustrated, or otherwise emotional when he talks to you...the guy that doesn't care...well he seems bored,  and completly calm, detached.

I don't know knowing the diffirence will make much diffirence, If he can't handle his emotions, he'd be either a train wreck if he tried to stay or more likely going to run if try to corner him. He's not emotional ready to deal with those emotions yet, and needs time to reflect and understand how he's going to manage himself when it happens again. The good news is, he'll be back, when he thinks he can handle it...you'll be the first one he thinks of...(speaking from experince)

When he starts making up reasons why he can't come over as much,  stops calling you, and doesn't return your calls.  Look for someone else girl!
