  1. when the needle goes into your mesodemus, it can dammage all the outter layers of skin. which i think is what ur talking about. but the needles are designed to never be able to go that deep.

  2. During the tattoo, you can often feel a snagging in the skin where the needle hangs up a lot...it is unusually painful...there is excess bleeding and the oozing persists longer than normal.  It also scabs and at times heavy.  Scabbing is not normal in most cases.  Only a light peeling of the skin should occur.

After it is healed, over worked tattoos often have blow outs but you can also feel that it is "cloudy" from being done too deep and many times there is scarring on the lines so they feel raised.

  3. it won't quit bleeding and you will get really sick at your stomach. m ost people pass out when it goes to deep.

  4. some artists are a little heavier handed than others. you'll know if they went too deep if you have what they call a "Blow out" of ink in which it's like the ink bled out from the linework, or if your bleeding continuiously and scabbing terribly. Now don't take that wrong, there will be light bleeding and scabbing, that's normal. I'm talkin, can't stop the blood within the hour of the tattoo and it looks like it's "weeping"

i'm doubting your artist went too deep if it's a professional. probably just ended up in the chair with a guy that's really heavy handed and it made it feel like he was carving the h**l outta ya. :)
