  1. I used to encourage my son to sit on the potty whenever he wanted to. They decide when their ready not you. It's worth asking them if they want the toilet regularly though. When he eventually did use the potty more by fluke than anything else I praised him so he wanted to do it again.

  2. Each child is different. For example, take my children: My oldest, showed interest at 11 months old, but it was too soon, her body wasn't ready. She was 3 1/2 before she was fully trained. My second daughter learned by watching her sister, so I didn't know she was ready until I seen her do it one day. lol Now, my son....he was totally different. He wanted to use the potty when was 2, but after a while, he got tired of doing it, so he gave up. This happened 2 more times before he actually committed to using the potty. But, when he was ready, he was trained in 2 wks flat!

The signs to watch for are the child squatting when he/she is pooping/peeing, hating to be in a diaper after it has been "used" (pulling it off), hiding somewhere to go potty, or watching you go potty. Just buy a potty seat, and take him/her potty every 20 minutes or so to sit on it with no diaper on. Don't force the child to go, and don't punish the child if he/she didn't go. ALWAYS reward after the child uses the potty (while you are still training). What I did was make a sticker chart, and every time they went pee, they got 1 sticker, and 2 stickers for going p**p. It's a fun incentive, and isn't unhealthy for them like a sugary sweet each time would be. =) GL!

  3. wen kid goes and sit on da friggen toilet thats wen u kno its time

  4. if they can say poo or pee or toilet.. or show interest in the toilet they are ready. i encouraged my babies with a big enticing jar of lollies and toys and everytime they showed interest in the toilet or went they got one.. its worked a treat. this is what they do at most daycares too.

  5. The signs that a child is ready to potty train are:

You'll know your child is ready when he or she:

Is aware of the "need to go," and shows it by facial expression or by telling you.

Can express and understand one-word statements, including such words as "wet," "dry," "potty," and "go."

    Demonstrates imitative behavior.

Dislikes wet or dirty diapers. (Don't confuse this with your level of discomfort or inconvenience.)

Is able to stay dry for at least two hours or wakes up dry after a nap.

Is able to help pull pants up and down.

Has a sense of social "appropriateness" (hides to do their business).

Tells you he or she is about to go. (Praise such statements to set the stage for a child who wishes to please you by learning to use the toilet or potty.)

Good luck with the training...! :)
