I just bought a venus flytrap and I read everywhere that you have to use distilled water and it's found in pretty much every store...okay...but I really don't know what distilled water is and I don't know how you can tell.

  1. Distilled water and deionized water have been the most common forms of purified water. It contains no other chemical elements and no dust except Hydrogen and Oxygen.

You can get distilled water in the water section of any large store. All the distilled water has a big label on it that says distilled. Distilled water is sold in a big jar.

  2. Thisis a retarded qustion. The bottled water isle will have bottles or jugs of 1 gallon DISTILLED water. Read the label, and you will find a bottle eventually that says "Distilled" water on it. Simple, cheap, and I have no clue how you could not know how to read a bottle's label. WOW.

  3. Go to the water section of your local grocery store. All the distilled water has a big label on it that says distilled. It's usually sold in those big jugs.

  4. because it tastes like...NOTHING haha...like no taste what so ever!

  5. Distilled water has been purified by distilation: boiled unto steam, and the steam collected and condensed.  = pure H2O.  No dissolved minerals, organisms, nada but water.  (And of course H3O & H+, but you can't have pure water without a little chemical interaction, eh?)

You can make a solar still at home, if you like, as an experiment.  There are plenty of designs available on the interwebs.

Your flytrap originates from acidic bogs, and obtains its nutrients from the insects it "eats."

As to how you tell... there is generally a sticker on the bottle you buy.  Some bottled water is purified by this or other methods (reverse osmosis, etc.), but then trace nutrients/minerals are added for taste.  This is also generally mentioned on the sticker.

  6. . . . the cheapest distilled water would be rain!

  7. Id it aint moving its di "still" ed..hahaha..sorry no idea to be honest =-D

  8. The label will read: DISTILLED WATER

    Could be a clue?

  9. it says distilled on it.. and yu can also ask someone who works in the pharmacie

  10. It costs more than tap water, plus, it says, "distilled" right on the label.

    Or -

You can use rain water, which is essentially the same as distilled, only on a much larger scale.   Flytraps do pretty well on rainwater in the wild, anyway, soooo????

  11. You can find it with the other gallons and bottles of water. Just look for the label.

  12. Distilled water will be clearly labeled as DISTILLED.  Ask anyone in your local grocer and they'll be able to help you.

  13. You don't see distilled water much any more, if you do it will be labeled "distilled".  Any brand of drinking water should be fine for your venus flytrap, they are are all prepared by reverse osmosis and they contain almost no minerals or organic contaminants.
