You have a "good radio voice"?

I always hear that, but I'm not exactly sure what that is or how to know if you have one.

  1. record yourself doing two things. 1. Speaking loudly based on a script 2. Just talking to yourself.

Listen to it and decide what you like and don't like and how much of it you can change.

I bet you have a great voice, good luck

  2. Okay,...you know how you hear people on the radio and they sound normal and some might have a deep cool voice......You could ask your friends how you sound on the phone or record you voice and ask people if it sounds like a good radio voice........

  3. record your voice,

    upload it online,

and ask for people's opinions :]

but to have a good readio voice,

it has to be a stern and convincing voice

  4. Radio "voices" come in all shapes, sizes, sounds and colors. It's often the content and not the voice that's most important.

As long as you don't have a speech impediment and others are telling you have a good voice for radio, you probably do.

A close friend and very well-known announcer has a big, booming voice. Mine is a normal conversational voice. He and I used to argue as to which was best. I always wanted his voice, but he'd tell me that because mine was so normal, I could do many more things with it, including character voices where he was pretty much stuck with the "A-NNOUNCER" label.

No offense to the other answerer, but "stern" isn't one of the descriptives I'd use. "Clear," yes. But stern? Nah!

So, assume you'd do OK in the voice dept and see my answer (below: "How to get into radio work, I have exp. as a DJ....?) about how to get into radio. Good luck!

  5. steady, clear and sure of yourself!!!
