How do you know if theres a book at your local barnes and noble?

i want to know if the book i want is there. how do i find out?

you can either go ask a clerk to help you, or look for a computer somewhere in the store that locates the book for ya. At borders, I know it is called the "Book Sleuth" or something like that.
