For those of you who are hypglycemic... what are the symptoms? How did you know you had it? How were you diagnosed? What are the treatments?

I am thinking I just might have this, but I don't have diabetes or anything.

Please, I need more info about this from people who actually have it.

  1. Men tend to have a larger risk of getting diabetes than women do. While there is some degree of variability among people, most will usually develop symptoms suggestive of hypoglycemia when blood glucose levels are lowered to the mid 50's. The first set of symptoms are called neuro-genic (or sympathetic) because they relate to the nervous system's response to hypoglycemia. Patients may experience any of the following;

    nervousness,

    sweating,

    intense hunger,

    trembling,

    weakness,

    palpitations, and

    often have trouble speaking

  2. I do not have "diabetes" but have a tendency to be hypoglycemic. I will become shaky, dizzy, light headed, cranky, , confused, my stomach gets this very odd, empty crampy feeling, kind of nauseous, I'll feel week.  If It, my glucose is dropping slowly the top of my feet may become itchy and I may get a headache which is like no other. I have been tested by my doctor  - glucose tolerance tests. I now test my own glucose daily and eat 6 small meals a day as opposed to four larger meals and limit refined sugars.  Eventually my pancreas may decide to do a turn around and I will be hypoglycemic, fairly common.
