  1. Hey dancingcatfrog,

There are ways.  DNA is one way, and getting your ancestors documented is another.  I venture to guess there are a lot of Navajo Indians that are 100%, and probably many other tribes that have 100% - and some mixed tribes.  Anyway, start with documenting all your living relatives, birth, death, marriage certificates of all ancestors and link to the Dawes rolls (or some other Native American Census).  Here are some sites to help you.

  2. Very, very few are.

I have to laugh, when I watch these PBS specials, with some guy who is the head of some Indian tribe, and he looks as white as I do.

A lot of people claiming Indian heritage have like 1/64th indian in them, by the looks of it.

Anyway, there must be some place where you can get DNA tests, because I saw another post on here, where some black guy did this, and was shocked (and horrified) to find out he had 85% Caucasian genetics.

He had no idea that he had ANY white blood in him.

Sorry, I don't know exactly where, but maybe do some searches. Perhaps these places that do paternity tests can do this?
