  1. There are different ways: 1) If your computer has a virus, spyware, etc. protection it will notify you. 2) your computer will be slow. 3) On some, like when i was attacked, the background of my desktop changed to a link to by spyware protection. SCAM! Don't do it!!! 4) Also you can go to a virus protection companys website and they will most likely have a free scan of your computer to look for bad things.

  2. Why don't you just wanna use an anti virus? Avast is free, there are some other good ones. I usually scan files with http://smart-ip.net/en/tools/virus-scan

    You're welcome!

  3. The best way is to install and regularly update and run anti-spyware programs.  I recommend Ad-Aware 2008 and Spybot S&D.  Both are free.

Update and run them every week.  Spybot can be scheduled to run in the wee hours of the morning, so it won't conflict with your important work.  Ad-Aware can also, but you have to upgrade to a for-money version for that feature.

    Hope that helps.

  4. just install and run webroot's spysweeper.which is the number one now

update and run a deep system scan
