There are so many different kinds of "cheating" from the nitty gritty down and dirty physical to having an "emotional affair" (everything BUT s*x) to "casual" flirting.

It all depends on what is being said in the chat rooms (they could  just be swapping recipes after all!)

However, if you aren't sure and want to find out what your partner is doing on line, you could always find out where he goes to chat, create a separate (and different) identity for yourself and, the next time he goes on line, follow him in and chat him up.

I believe it's called entrapment. It's one way of finding out.

see what he is talking about.. if its just friend talk no big deal if he is trying to see them in person and telling them lies yes he is cheating emotionally

My husband and I have a wonderful definition of cheating.

Cheating:  Doing something that involves the opposite s*x that you would not do if your spouse knew about it or was in the room.

Would your husband be in an internet chatroom flirting if you knew about it?  I would think most likely not.  Therefore, in mine and my husband's eyes that would be cheating.  Even if you don't find it to be cheating, socializing to flirt with people of the opposite s*x is wrong in a marriage.

This can be bad if he establishes an emotional relationship with the other person.  If he decides to "open up" to the other person in ways he has not opened up to you, it can get out of hand.  You need to communicate your concern with him to make sure he understands what you expect of him.  Especially, early on in this soon to be possible problem.  He should understand and not want to do anything on line he wouldn't do in front of you.  Been there done that (on your end with this) and it is very tough.  Good luck
