  1. Well, I take her to the vet and he confirms it for me. Otherwise, approx 5 weeks of age, you can see the change in her belly.

  2. She'll become more aggressive and sensitive to you touching her underside. Her teats will swell and there may be a great increase/decreases in appetite. She will look bloated and her ribs will expand. To be 100% sure you should take her to a vet. She may also have a lack of energy or willingness to play.

  3. You can only really be sure by taking her to a vet and having them do an ultrasound.

Other than that, a few weeks after her heat, she may lose her appetite. Her behavior may change - she may become moody, clingy, shy, etc. Her belly will begin to swell and her rib cage will spring out to make room for the babies. About 2 weeks before she's due, you'll be able to feel babies moving around in her tummy. Then, 63 days after she was bred - out come the babies.

Talk to your vet if you believe your dog is pregnant. It's very important for a pregnant Mama dog to get proper care for her well-being as well as her babies.

  4. When she has a litter of pups in around 64 days.  You can take her to the vet for an ultrasound, x-ray or manual palpation 30-40 days after her heat cycle.  Sometimes swelling of the nipples and abdomen is an indication of false pregnancy.  So you really can't really go by those signs.
