  1. Well, if you are unsure, Im sure your horse likes you... because they usually let you know if they don't!! Most horses are pretty easy to please if you feed and love on them!

  2. You would be able to tell.  The place where I used to ride at, the one girl there had a horse and she hardly took care of him and when that horse saw her, he would run from her and when she would ride him, he would not look relex.

  3. I have to disagree with Olivia on one thing. I know my horse loves me but she will dump me in a heart beat, if I s***w up. Just look for the little signs. Like with Girlfriend, she will place her head on my shoulder, walk up against me with no halter or lead rope. Things like that. And if your horse doesn't do those thing that's OK, horses are like people, they don't always show affection in the same way. Or some are not very affectionate at all. The real question should be does you horse trust you. If you asked your horse to go into a unfamiliar situation for the first time, and he doesn't hesitate. And how much trust do you have in your horse, when a situation goes bad and your horse Carry's you through.

My horse will try, key work try, to buck me off if I do things like-que her wrong, go against her training, sing. But on the other hand she has proven several time when working cattle and things got a little dicey, She stood and took care of me, literally. I wouldn't want a different horse when the s@#t hits the fan. Luck

  4. i heard if you cover both of a horse eyes and count to 20 and they dont move there face that means they trust you.or when the horse see you if comes up 2 you quick it like you

  5. Knickering, and making noise isn't as important. Some horses are quieter than others.

Will he go anywhere you lead him (safe places)?

Does he run to his friends or stay with you?

Does he stay with you if you accidentaly drop your reins for a second (it happens to all of us)?

Does he not do anything uncalled for (like refusing normal jumps, being annoying about leads, or randomly stopping)?

Does he hear your voice and perk up and look around?

Just some random stuff. If he doesn't try and s***w you over (like horses do), he probably likes you!

  6. If that horse didn't like you it wouldn't be so calm with all those activities. Does your horse nicker when you come near, does he try to fall asleep when you give him rub downs and attention, does the horse come to you when you try and halter him, does his eyes seem kind when you look into them, does he follow you around, does he try to bop you with his head in mean to play? If so your horse loves you and you need to try your hardest to keep that relationship- pet him ,love him, show him you love him back, over time he will be your greatest friend and protecter. I remember with a horse I loved and she loved me back, I could talk to her about how I felt, I would tell her what I was going through and she would comfort me and listen, I could tell through her eyes that she understood, sometimes she would even l**k me when I gave her hugs.

  7. well usually... you'll just know.

    but some signs are

*not kicking, bucking, or biting you very often (like your horse is more patient with you then other people)

    *your horse will follow you

*your horse always perks up when he/she sees you.

*your horse with take care of you (like if they feel you slipping in the saddle they'll slow down)

    *they listen to your commands

usually your horse will do most if not all of these things if he/she likes you.

  8. You kinda just know.

My horse will usually nudge me whenever im grooming her or something. Its so cute!

  9. you kinda just know, like my gelding is pretty patient when  I make him stand in a ditch so I can jump on bareback, he comes when I call usually all I say is "Rebel Treat"  and he comes.  They treat you better then other people, like if im not there when he is getting shod, he is the BIGGEST brat.  He's a little barn sour, but I still love him, and I know he loves me.  We just have a connection like no one else.

Kevin H totally has it.  Does your horse trust you, I know mine trusts me cuz he'll do just about anything I ask, and looks to me in a scary situation.  Like today, kids were playing on the zipline, and he heard th sound as he was walking under, he did a little jump and then I told him its alright and he walked on, stopped and looked at it.

He also wont let anyone else spray him, he hates sprays but he lets me do it.

One day he saaved me from going down a trail that would have put us at a fire, I was trying to take him down them and he flipped out, kept turning, so I just said to him, obviously you see something I don't we can go back to the barn.

  10. You need to be more concerned with if your horse RESPECTS you. With respect, will come like. I good indication of both is if he walks up to you to be caught.

  11. I agree with Olivia! You will know if your horse likes you or not. One of the horses I ride, always gets excited when I see her. So thats a sign, for me that she likes me. He will treat you like a friend, rather than a master, that he must obey. Besides all horses love anyone who show love to them. So im sure he loves you very much!!
