  1. Depends on the car, but most have a transmission dipstick or a fill plug to check the fluid level.  See your Owners Manual because that is a routine maintenance check in most vehicles.


  2. Along with the dipstick, you will find a lag time between when you put it into gear and when it grabs. You will also have slip when it begins to shift gears or a long slip and no up shift.
