How do you know if youre sea turtle is a boy or girl?

the shape of their shells, male and

female sea turtles look very much

alike. Females have slightly domed

shells and their tails do not extend

beyond their rear flippers. Males' have

flatter shells and tails that extend well

past their hind legs. you can also tell If the stomach is flat = girl. If there's an arc in it, it's a boy

please do some research.  i doubt you have a sea turtle.

With any turtle, look at the tail from underneath. Find the vent. If the vent is under the upper shell (carapace), you have either a female or an immature male. In mature males, the vent is beyond the rim of the carapace.

BTW, sea turtles are protected by state, federal, and international law. Get a field guide and find out what you really have.

Adult sea turtles grow very slowly in the wild, reaching sexual maturity at an average age of 25. Immature male and female sea turtles look very similar, with short, stubby tails. During maturation, however, the male develops a long, thick tail, making adult male and female turtles easy to tell apart.
