I know this is probably a stupid question but how do you know when the pill is out your system? is it from when you start to get periods after your withdrawal bleed or could you still get the periods without ovulating?

I was on Mercilon for 13 years, came off in April and have had a period every month since April with a withdrawal bleed, 30 days cycle, 35 day cycle and 32 day cycle.

It has only been 4 months since I came off the pill and I really am trying not to think too hard about ovulating and am I aren't I pregnant but it is so hard and I just wonder will this ever happen for me! I know people try for years but I just feel like have I spent the past 13 years trying not to get pregnant only to find now I can't!!!

Please no sarcastic comments and only genuine people to answer my question.

Thanks

Em

  1. it can take up to 6 months for it to come out of your system and it also depends on the women as well..and you can also ask ur doc.

  2. I used OPK's to know when I was back to normal. I got the "withdraw bleed" for a week when I first stopped, then a normal period two weeks later, then they've been every 28-30 days like clock work. I ovulated the 2nd month after stopping the pill. The average time it takes is 3 months, but typically the longer you're on the pill, the longer it will take to "recover" from coming off the pill.

  3. There's really no way to know- and having a period doesn't mean you are ovulating, necessarily. I would recommend charting your temps so that you know what's happening with your body- you can go to www.fertilityfriend.com or www.tcoyf.com to learn more.

  4. im not completely sure but if it take about a month for it to take effect im guessing it takes about a month to get off and if your having your periods im guessing its out of ur system. and my moms a nurse and they only way to know for sure if you cant get pregnant is to see a doctor. Good Luck

  5. You can pick up an Ovulation Predictor Kit, a Fertility Monitor or start charting your temps (go to www.fertilityfriend.com).

If you are ovulating normally, it is pretty safe to say that the pill is out of your system . . . typically, the pill leaves your system pretty quickly usually within a cycle or two.  If you are not ovulating, it could be the pill lingering (as the hormones in the pill suppress ovulation) or it could be another ovulatory issue that you should consult your doctor about.

Unfortunately, some women find that when they go off the pill, issues that they had previously return or issues that they were not even aware of show up.

If you cannot identify that you are ovulating, contact your doctor.

    Good luck and baby dust!

  6. I know some people who got off the pill and got pregnant right away, but for some people it takes a little bit longer.

If you are getting periods every month, then you are probably ovulating.  If you want to know for sure, then you can try charting.  Even women who aren't TTC  should think about charting because it lets you know more about your cycle.

This is a great website and it makes it a lot easier.
