i am getting my friend a picture frame and i want it engraved with a specific quote. i can not afford to get one from Things Remembered and get it engraved...if i were to go to Target or Walmart or something..how would i be able to figure out if a frame i bought there can be engraved?

it has to be silver not wooden!!

where else could do the engraving besides the Things Remembered store in the mall?

  1. Most anything metal can be engraved.  Check the dollar stores in your neighborhood or the thrift stores.  Instead of Things Remembered or a jeweler, try a trophy shop for the engraving.  They're usually less expensive and don't have as long a wait to get the engraving done as a jeweler would.

  2. You can get the silver colored metal frame obviously at Target or Walmart as you listed.  You can also try a TJMaxx/Home Goods/Marshalls, they have some really nice frames a discounted prices.  You can also check Kohls/Bed Bath and Beyond/Linens and things.  If you go to BBB or LT remember to take one of those 20% off coupons that most people always get in the mail either store will accept them even though BBB issues them.

Other than the Things Remembered there may be a kiosk in the middle of your mall that will do it.  You can also call jewelry stores to see if they will do it for you.  I would guess that you might have more luck at a local store rather than a chain like Kay's or something like that.

    Best of luck to you.
