  1. You never get checked weekly by u/s but at every visit once the heartbeat is heard for the first time they will listen to it every time thereafter. I'm not sure how far along you are, but once the baby has started kicking forcefully you can count fetal kicks. Try to count baby's movements at the same time each day. Pick a time when baby is most active. Count baby's movements while lying on your side. If within 2 hours you do not feel 10 movements, call your doctor.  But remember if you early in your pregnancy the kicks aren't going to be felt as often. Just continue to take your prenatal vitamins, and eat the best you can and stay active to your limits. If you ANY problems that you are unsure of make a dr. appt or visit to the Dr, that's what they are there for.
