How do you know that you have what is takes to be in the navy ?

ok. i m 24 and i m thinking about going into Navy reserves. I had not been in the any thing b4 ( I know that I m a lil old). But I think about going in to the reserves.How do you know if you have what it takes to make it? I think that the reserves will not be as hard as active + I make more now at the job that I do( I'm not doing this for the $$) I make more now.

I'm not in the navy i'm in the USAF, but i do have some friends in the navy. First you do need to take the ASVAB (an aptitude test) to determine your skills. Your skills do not always determine your job though (for example i scored high in administrative and i'm now a car mechanic). You can' t have a criminal record; (ex: domestic violence, card theft, etc.); you can't have any MAJOR health issues; if you have any tattoos they can't be on your wrists, neck or above the collar bone. Also you can't be overweight as the military now PT (physical fitness) tests their people, although the reserves are more relaxed about it.You must pass a urine test. Also if you have wife and more than two kids you must get the waivered now. Other than that all you need to know is that you will be getting yelled at in basic, you must follow directions and be prepared to deploy (even short notice)

You must first take an ASVAB test which determines which field will you be doing while in the Navy.  As you know, Navy gets deployed more than 75% of the time..So, be ready to be away for long periods of time at sea without your mommy !!

The number one thing you must be able to do is follow directions. If you can do that and are less then 25% body fat, you probably have what it takes.

You'll talk to recruiters and go to MEPS (the building where you get groped, fondled, violated and tested, ASVAB) and recruit meetings before you swear in. During that time youll get a small taste of it. 24 isnt too old, you wont be alone.
