  1. There are many common things to give you an indication that the transmission is failing. Some of them are... Transmission slippage... This can be felt as well as heard. Say you are going down the road, and you are pressing further down on the gas pedal, but the car isn't moving any faster... That is one form of transmission slippage. another form of slippage would be when you put the vehicle into gear, and nothing happins... That is another form of slippage. Or, if you put the vehicle into gear, and it barely moves, or if you really have to rev the engine to get the car to move. Sometimes, you can get a idea of transmission condition by inspecting the transmission fluid on the dipstick itself. If the fluid smells burned, or just doesn't look right, you may have problems. Although some of the new fluids smell different and look different. You can still tell if it is not right. Asd far as a price on a transmission for a 1993 Honda Accord, well I would say that you are looking at at least $600 for the transmission. It may be more or less, depending on where you go.  You may be able to get a used one at a salave yard as well. They may be cheaper, there. If you decide to go that route, try to find one that can be tested in the car, if possible. Some yards have vehicles that can be just be yard driven. Otherwise, try to find one that is not too high in milage. Otherwise, you can also look for a car just like yours, that has a good transmission, and put your parts onto the other car, I have done this before. It all depends on what you want to do. Hope this helps some.

  2. transmission may slip the car does not take off as fast as it should be able to it could be low on fluid, if it is a standard the clutch could be slipping

  3. bunch of jokers with the 600 dollar price...ithats if u get one in junkyard and out it in yourself....to drive into a tranny shop and get one expect 1500 dollars,,make sure it includes new or rebuilt torque converter....at honda cost is in 2500 dollar range...MAKE SURE the tranny is the problem...if you go in and say the tranny is shot,,,they will sell u a tranny even if you just needed a tune up or new battery with clean cables

  4. If the transmission has failed the car won't move. The engine will run though. If it is a manual the clutch might need adjusting if it is possible with this make of car. If it is an automatic it could be low on oil in the gearbox. If it is an automatic gearbox then this could be expensive.

    Good luck. h

  5. You may see more sludge ( or bits of clutch plates ) in the pan when you do the maintenance. Price can vary by an unbelievable amount. Shop around until you find someone you trust.
