How do you know toads are sleeping?

Well yesterday i had 4 toads and they were all alive but then this morning one had its eyes closed and i don't know what to do because it was not hopping when i touched it or picked it up. I even put it in the water to see if it would swim but it didn't.please help.

its either dead or scared wittless give it a couple of days you'll soon know. they take a few days to settle in.
