  1. You don't sound dumb...

It is customary that the piercer give you a card or piece of paper that tells you what gauge your jewelry is. Or at least in good shops it is. You'll probably have to call and ask....

  2. 14 is small 12 is bigger. It just depends on what you want and the look you are trying to get. As far length I learned from trial and error which ones where good for me.

  3. You should get the 14 gauge.  That's what I would say.

  4. You are not making sense. I am sitting next to a weight bench with barbells on it. You need to balance the weight on each side. There's the weight of the barbell on each side and the weight of the bar. It all depends on how much you can lift to begin with. You have to make sure the barbell hole is big enough for the bar to slip into. There are different bars, like a curling bar and bench press bar, etc... My suggestion to you is that before you buy anything, get a couple of Weider Magazines and read up on this. They give sample workout, etc. and then you won't be throwing your money away before you really know what you want to buy. My husband has 3 or 4 bars here and several hundreds of pounds of barbells. Sometimes you can buy a set of weights (about 100 pounds worth) that come with a bar.

    Hope this helps.
