  1. i always use a sandwedge or higher because anything above that leaves litle room for error, but they dnt go to far only like 70 yard. I suggest 1 56" and 1 60" if you need to hit a low shot then just close the club face

It depends on the type of shot you're hitting.  If you want to throw the ball up in to the and get it to stop fast, use a lob or sand wedge.  Be careful though, the loft is so great on those clubs that if you don't swing hard enough the ball will just flop and not go far.  If you're looking for control from just off the green and have no obstructions in front of you, try a 7 or 8 iron back in your stance.  Don't swing hard on those shots, the ball will come out low and roll out like a putt.  Good for shots just off the green with some distance to the hole.  Practicing these shots a lot will only help.

  3. what ever you feel comfortable with for the shot you have.  practice with all your irons in different scenarios and you will have a "feel" for all of them and you will know what you can do with them.
