Question:

How do you know what size TV will fit in an entertainment center?

I'm trying to find an entertainment center (and a TV). I'm not sure what size TV I'm going to get yet, but I'm finding good deals on entertainment centers right now.

I can't figure out what size TV (flat panel) will fit in some of them with only the measurements of the TV section.

One of the center's TV section measures 40"W x 27"H, what is the largest TV that would fit in here and how do you know?

Is a^2+b^2=c^2 accurate? And if c=48.25", what is the largest TV you think would fit comfortably? A 37"? A 40"? And aren't some TVs more wide than tall and vice-versa?

Thank you!

  1. The best way is to take a tape measure and go shopping.

Remember, the measurement for the TV screen is  only from the screen's corner to the opposite corner of the screen.  It does not take into account anything that may be on the sides of the screen - such as the plastic casing or speakers.

  2. every 40" tv with bottom mounted speakers should fit. most come in at about 38-39". you could probably find a 42" with a thin bezel that would fit. the Panasonic TH42PX80U is 40.2" wide. check out manufactures web sites dimension are usually listed

    http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-elect...

  3. It is hard telling. Stores and some manufactures will list dimensions of the TV as the cardboard box dimensions!

Overall size can vary several inches per category of TV. Not so much now, but depth should be a consideration as well.

If you are looking at a flat panel you really should gravitate to stand, it will force you to clean the TV more often ( better life for the TV BTW) this will make you concerned with the TVs stands dimensions and will make it much easier for you in the long run.

  4. I think you're putting the CART before the horse here.....

Buy the TV you LIKE first, then get the stand to hold it....

And if you want something that works well, just get one without SIDES on it, and put everything UNDER it...Those will never let you down on any TV set or Size...

I like the UPTOWN TV stand myself.....

By the way, the enclosed cabinet stands....they are outdated and certainly look like they are from the 80's.

  5. Look at ICONIC .

regardless your requirement , it is avialable in all the size  and  highest quality. good value for money and great pleasure to watch.

  6. Look the tv up on a website like best buy or curcuit city and they will give you the dimensions. Using the pythagoreum theorem won't work because it doesn't take any edging or speakers into account. In general though, the screen diagonal plus a couple of inches will probably be most screen widths. I would say a 40" wide cabinet will fit most 37" tvs (most with bottom mounted speakers that is).

I just looked up a few tvs and the 3 40" sets I saw will fit. 38.5 to 39" wide and all are 26" or less high
