How do you know what your sun sign, moon sign, and rising sign is?

As has already been stated, there is no truth in astrology. If it pseudo-scientific nonsense. However, it is also harmless fun if you don;t take it seriously.

Basically the sun sign is the constellation that would be sen behind the sun on the day you were born if we could see stars when the sun is up.

Moon sign in the constellation the moon was in when you were born.

And Rising sign is the sign that was just rising above the horizon when you were born.

However, if you use astronomical software to work this all out you will not get the same answer that an astrologer would give you. There are several reasons for this.

1) Precession. The astrological system was set up a long time ago, precession of the euqinoxes has shifted thing, so, for instance, although an astrologer will tell me I am Gemini, the sun was in Taurus when I was born

2) Ophiuchus - there are actually 13 constellations that mark the ecliptic (the region of the sky the planets and sun traverse. But only twelve are used in astrology.

Like I said - have fun with this stuff - but don't take it seriously, the positions of the planets have no bearing on your personality, and astrologers don't even get those positions correct astronomically!
