  1. Heck, I didn't even know mine was expecting until one January 1  I walked in the room and saw 2 babies there......

Hello, welcome to to the world................What a new years surprise that was for me.

  2. Rodentlover stop answering Just to get points!!!!!!  any ways i am no expert on guinny pigs but i might be able to help you. just go to google typeing what you want to know and SEARCH!!!!!

  3. When my guniea pig was in labor she was really quiet, i didn't know she had her babies until morning, she had 4. Just keep an eye on her. ^.^

  4. Well a couple years ago i bought a guinea pig and didn't know it was pregnant until it gave birth one day while i was home. The only thing i really noticed was she started squeaking a lot and really loud like she was in pain and so i went to see what was wrong and out popped a baby. I was so shocked.  Luckily it was only 1 baby.

  5. if the  guineapig is in labour he`ll be breathing hard

    pant

and get a little fatter it might be hard to tell

    since there size and fluffyness

  6. When he ask for some wet towels.

  7. Why is she going to need help?  If she is over 8 months then she may in fact have a lot of difficulty delivering.  Either way you need to have the number of a guinea pig savvy vet on hand, along with an emergency contact for after hours.

Some signs of labour include hunching during contractions, and reaching under her to pull the baby out.  Read through this page to give you an idea of normal labour, and signs of distress:

  8. you dont know exactly when its going to happen but there are signes she will do which shows she is 'ready'

when you give her hay she will make a nest and stay there most of the time

she will become less active but still move about

she is more than likely to do it when you are not there,, its a nise surprise!

i came in from school to find 2 little ones in the cage!

  9. Read http://www.guinealynx.info/reproduction....

Remove the male if you have't already.

Remove any baby males at 3 weeks. Do you have a good vet lined up in case of complications?

  10. how to tell a guine pig is in labor is when it starts pushing out a guine pig lol rofl

  11. There aren't many obvious signs...she might start to play with her bedding or get quiet or go into a corner or something but guinea pigs and their babies are SO independent. They literally come out with their eyes open and their legs working, guinea pigs rarely need help giving birth. Enjoy though, new born guinea pigs are adorable!

  12. she will be breathing VERY heavily. and will be laying down. If you see 2 pink things in the cage then they are already born. Generally they don't need help. it is not a horse. I would advise you not to help pull the baby's out, (if that's what you mean by help). just watch in case some thing goes wrong. Cause just like hamsters they can eat there young. one of my friends had a guinea pig that did that. Now, don't worry just stand by in case there is an emergency. Hope you guinea pig is a good mom.

  13. When I had my pigs, they had their babies at night and they didn't make any noise (or at least not enough to wake me up). How come your pig will need help giving birth? Usually their fine on their own.

  14. :L mine gave birth yesterday morning i knew it was going to happen coz i felt a baby move down a bit. I slept through it though, i think you should too because if she is giving labour and your watching you may get worried , but i woke up to find Pogo sitting quite happily ontop of two little babies an albino and one the spitting image of her Pregnant Auntie Pip. I wouldnt worry about anything going wrong , i bought my guinea pigs 6weeks ago from a pet store and they must have gotten pregnant at 4weeks (the earliest) which can be dangerous.I think my guinea pig Pip is going to have 2 babies aswell which is good for a guinea pigs 1st time because they only have two t***s. Another way to tell is to feel how far her pelvic bones have seperated. I did it and got one thinger through then she gave birth 2 days later. What age is your pig ?Why would she need help ?

  15. Please have her looked at by a guinea pig knowledgeable vet.He will possibly want to to an x-ray to determine the number of babies and if the  pelvis is fused. This in itself  is a very dangerous operation in pigs.but if the pelvic bones are fused they are doomed anyway.Norrmal g.p. labor is quick. Most owners always miss it.

  16. well just one thing if shes more than a year old, pregnancy is quite dangerous for sows. (female piggys) the reason is that their hips get fused together and this could cause them to die. so i guess u will have to take a good look at the piggy.

for more infop id recommend calling ur vet. they will have the best info!

    hope this helps!

    good luck!

  17. if she is over 1 it is dangerous, have a vets info to hand,a vet who know about pigs.she will go quiet and hunker down, she will then start heavy breathing and grunting. when babies are born, she may appear frighterned of them at first but bear with her.if one is born not breathing, rub it with straw and lightly blow in its mouth and nostrils, she will not be concerned that you have touched her baby, they are not like rabbits.good luck, let us know what happens,i remember how worried i was the first time.also they will probably be big as there are only two.

  18. the only big signs i can think of is a very loud grunting and screamish noise, my guinea pig is expecting in a few days, also she was pregnanat when i got her,  please don't breed though...every 1 out of 5 sows ie before or during pregnancys

I say she is dead wrong, guinea pigsare born ready to run with fur and teeth. She will make a nest a couple days before her birth! They will be any thing but quiet while giving birth!and the babies re not independent, if they where you could rehome them after the birth, but without the moms care and milk they will die.it is importanat to check up every few minutes to make sure she is ok, the birth could kill her, she could have more that 2 babies which can be very stressful for a 1st time mom, and there is still the chance that 1 of the babies could be still born....

Please think before you act, if you don't it could result in your guinea pigs lif3

  19. You don't really need to know. They can do it all by them selves. I used to have 5 guinea pigs and one had 2 babies between the time I got their food dish filled it up and returned.

  20. it will probably be lying down and looking very tyred

  21. Guinea pig labour is usually very quick - for this reason, I've only witnessed 2 out of 6 of my guinea pigs' births. They sit hunched up, squealing every now and again, and will begin to bend over and attempt to pull the baby out with their teeth.

Just two questions from me... how do you know there are two? Did you go for a scan? And also, why do you know she will need help?

    Hope this helped.

  22. Why is she going to need help?

  23. a baby comes out :)
