  2. You know a salt is a strong electrolyte when it can be broken down into many elements.To do this, you need to look at the chemical formulas.  The more pieces it can be broken down into, the better the electrolyte.

    NaCl = Na + Cl

    CaCl2 = Na + Cl + Cl

    CaCl2 is a stronger electrolyte, because it can be broken down into 3 segments, whereas NaCl can only be broken down into 2.
