How do you know when he still likes you?

but you made the biggest mistake saying you just wanted to be friends.

how can you tell he still likes you?

he still acts completely the same, he is shy but still acts like a goofball.

he's really shy around me but when he's open he acts like stupid, lol.

but our communication is very low. im not sure if he considers me as a friend or not, because he does things that keep me wondering. like helping me, being sheepish around me, copying me still.. so im not sure..

what are tell tale signs, he still likes you???

Well.. I guess he still likes you, but doesn't mean he loves you or anything.

Friends do like each other.

So, he is just your friend?  That isn't bad is it?  You want him to be more then just your friend?  The only way is for you to tell him what you want.  Is your pride that big that you will not tell someone you like him more then just a friend?  If this is so, then you will continue to be where you are now.
