My wife and I have been married for 5 years and we are both 23 years old. We want to be young parents. We don't want to still be having babies in our late 30's, you know? But we don't know when the right time is. I have a job where I travel alot and my wife stays home and takes care of me and the house. We decided that eventually we want to have 3 kids but we love our time together. And we know that when you have kids the priorities change. And for now we just like it being the two of us.

We both WANT kids, our finances are in order, and everything else is worked out.

So how are we supposed to know when the right time is?

  1. well if everything is in order than have a baby

  2. i would say.. dont plan itt

and i agree with the traveling thing.. its good to be there for her... traveling parents are hard..

but dont plan it, just have fun and when it happens. it happens!

hm, you could think about when you want your kids birthdays to be.. like in the summer or something.. but like dont plan it to the exact day. goshems

  3. I mean ... you can't really help that you need to travel a lot for your job. But, how often are we talking? You don't want to not be around for your wife's pregnancy - she will need your help and company a lot. you also don't want to miss the birth of the baby. lastly, you don't want the baby to grow up and consider you a father that was never around because he was always too busy with his job.

  4. when you both are truly able to say that you are willing to give up all of your free time, and i dont want to say selfish, but when you are willing to stop being all about the two of you and ready to give everything into being a family. because once you have a child, it isnt about you anymore. but don't be afraid to have couple time though either, make sure that you set aside time each day for just the two of you, as well! :) hope i helped. good luck!

p.s. and it also should not matter to anyone else, it is your decision, having a child is a beautiful thing. and as far as traveling to work, there are so many families who have fathers or mothers who travel away for work, look at truck drivers, corporate figures, military men/women... if your wife has support from you and feels comfortable, and has some help from the family while you are away for a few days here and there, then she will be fine. i was in another country for my entire pregnancy and my husband couldnt see our child until she was almost 6 months old. but he was still the best support i had.

  5. is it ok with your wife's parent's ,because if they think she is to young then that's a problem.
