my cockatiel died almost two weeks ago, and I was crushed. Now we found some baby birds and I really want to get one. But I don't know if I am ready to get a new bird just yet. How will I know?

  1. If you can watch the cockatiel and hold it (if you can) without feeling too terrible about your old cockatiel. Some sadness is OK, but a new bird could help keep your mind off the old one.

  2. i would give it another week or so this way you can really be over him/her and also dont get a bird that looks the same as your old one it will just make even more depressed

  3. If you feel the desire to have a new bird and you are excited about feeding and taking care of a new baby cocktails just get it. It seems you are ready, if you were not you would not felt that crush.

  4. When you feel ready, it'll  BE ready. My Quaker parrot was 13 years old when he died, and I'd had him since he was only 8 weeks old. I was crushed, too, but my apartment was FAR too quiet without a bird in it with me. So, within a month, I had gotten another bird - a caique. Within a month of THAT, I had a second one and now I have THREE. That was nearly 5 years ago.
