how do you know when your growth spurt is over???

You don't really, you can just make guesses bases on how fast your growing and/or developing. But on avg, a female stops growing at about 18 years. A male at about 21 years. We grow about 3 years longer the females. However our growth spurts, as in plueral can happen mostly at the beggining, middle or end, or can just span over the enire length of time. However parts continue to grow such as your feet will grow till your about 25 or so.

Well, most guys don't notice they have had a growth spurt until it is over.  And some guys experience a few small growth spurts, one huge one, or constant regular growth, so its hard to know if you have just ended one.  But a guy usually doesn't reach peak height until theyre anywhere from 16-20

You won't. But there are some hints: you can use the same shoe, shirts and pants for the next two years.
