How do you know when to classify a stranger?

I know sometimes it's obvious....but sometimes people that you see all the time you've never talked to or been around

  1. A stranger is someone you do not know. Saying "hi" everyday and nothing else does not make a stranger not a stranger. (Does that make sense??)

    I usually think of it like this: do I trust this person if we were to be in a dangerous situation?

    yes= not a stranger (examples: friends, family members, relatives)

    no=stranger! (the guy I see and smile at everyday in the shop while I'm buying my coffeecake)
