  1. When the afterlife is reached.  Dying is like going to sleep.  There is no point, in the evening, when you know that you are asleep.  It is not until you awake later that you are consciously aware that you were asleep.

  2. I think when you close your eyes like your going to sleep and open them to find yourself in front of God. (lets hope your in his good books)

  3. That's not a good question that's just a plain retarded one that Christians can make us Atheists angry about...

Dead = nothing, no thinking so you can't know when you are it!

No afterlife, no god, and no more annoying religions, thats the only good part

  4. People will start praising you, they would say what a good person you were, why that person had to leave so soon etc.- then you know you are dead!

  5. firstly i think i have to try to die...................after that i will tell u..............

  6. Consciousness is not a part of the great universe; it is only a part of an individual, like his/her beating heart. It is a manifestation of the individual's central nervous system and a function of his brain.

When the heart and brain die, the consciousness dies, also. You won't know you are dead.

  7. maybe you don't know. maybe you are already dead. maybe we are all dead. no idea, there are no witnesses.

  8. No god, no heaven, and certainly no h**l.

Perhaps we-the living-will never know.  But I believe in some type of merging with the cosmos with some type of intelligence preserved, and I do think reincarnation is plausible.

But the question is: after death and during the above-mentioned states of mind, would we be led (for some internal reason) to believe that we were, in fact, not dead:  maybe to live on in some utopia or 'heaven', you would have to be ignorant of the fact that you are physically dead.

This is the complete opposite of what most organized religions (shouldn't I say 'cults') have 'faith' in.

Ironic, would it not be, if all those god-fearing (what a joke of a phrase) and self-righteous persons were to suffer for a long, long time.  Serves them right as they've judged others (mostly ones better than them) negatively or as 'evil', attempted to spread their propaganda, and lived their whole LIFE knowing that they're better than the other--the most deserving.  Karma is a b*tch to these christ-ians!
