  1. First, determine if the seller is reputable by simply looking at the feedback rating. Good sellers will usually list their return policy. If they don't, ask them what their return policy is via the 'ASK THE SELLER...." before you bid. If they accept returns, bid on it. If they don't, then look elsewhere. SAVE the seller's email in case you are the winning bidder and the item doesn't work.

  2. I dont use ebay really, but I think because ebay have ure deatails and stuff, they cant fob u off lol.

  3. You can't be sure at all.  For most of the cheap items you'll find there are no guarantees whatsoever.

Feedback is supposed to give you an idea of who your trading with, but is, on the whole, a waste of time.  The 'star' rating system does give you a better idea so make sure that you have a look at those (especially how the seller is rated for their item descriptions).

Buying from an eBay seller is no different from buying something at a car boot sale - it's pot luck - although if the seller is registered with eBay as a 'business seller' and the item is a 'buy it now', you do have some rights under the Distance Selling Regulations.

So always bid with that in mind - that if the item turns out to be no good, you can afford to throw it away.
