My 13 week old daughter used to cry when she was hungry. Now she doesn't seem to cry and i cannot tell when she's hungry. I feel like a bad mother. She fusses when she wakes up and i just feed her as i asume she's hungry. She'sformula fed, is there anyone out there in the same boat? She can go 5 to 6 hrs without a feed

  1. Just feed her in a timely manner whether she cries or not. If u will put a big gap between her feeds she will have digestion problems so keep her feeding every 2 hours.

  2. When it dies of starvation

  3. I would suggest every four hours during the day and space out the night feed for a longer period, say 6 hrs.  You little girl should be having 5 feeds of formula per day n now should also start being introduced to solids.  But the best thing to do is speak to your doctor or maternal health nurse.  You should not worry, especially if your daughter is gaining weight as she should and is in generally happy.  Your not a bad mother, you want what is best for your child and that makes u a very concerned and caring mother.  All the best, n know your doing well.  Cheers

  4. i dont have an answer,

but your not a bad mommy.

  5. what my friend used to do was put her finger right by her kids mouth if he started sucking on it, it meant he was hungry.

  6. this is completely normal, i have a 14 week old little boy and at nights he has gone without a feed for 12 hrs!

My little boy does cry when hes hungry but i normally can tell if he doesn'tt cry by him sucking on his dummy hard like hes trying to get food out or putting a clean short nail finger in his mouth, if he sucks that hard hes hungry.

If you dont want to do that just feed her evey 4 hrs and at night feed proberly like 6 hrs so more if you can

  7. My son was a little like that also- but with time he did regulate himself.  Initally we also were worried and we awoke him and fed him after 3 hrs or so, but then we realized that perhaps we may be just adding calories and pacifying ourselves.  Now he eats without a problem every 4 hrs.  Your daughter too will most likely change her habits.

PS Our son was formula fed.

  8. okay well first of all ur a good mother because if u aren't den u wouldn't had bothered asking this question but n/eways jus keep a schedule of her eating and try to watch her behavior..

  9. My son is starting to not show hunger signs as much as he used to also.  I try and keep him on a 3 hour schedule.  He gets 6 ounces 3 hours apart 5 times a day.  Babies at that age should be eating close to 30 ounces a day.  I know he's hungry when we sit down and I start putting the bib on him (he's a very messy drinker) and he starts to kick and get excited.  He also starts opening his mouth like he's waiting for the bottle to go in.  Try just making it a regular interval.  If she eats more than 6 ounces, you can try spacing the feedings a little farther apart.

By spacing feedings evenly you are also helping her metabolism stabilize.

  10. A lot of babies don't cry when their hungry because they are just quite babies. You should figure out a schedule and feed her according to that. If she's hungry, she'll drink... if not you need to try again. She should go in for a check up to make sure that nothing is wrong, as well.

PS- You are NOT a bad mother. You just need to keep trying and soon you'll both adjust to a happy feeding schedule. =) Congrats on being a Mommy.
