How do you know when your baby is teething?

My son is only 3 1/2 months and lately he has been drooling a lot. He only seems content when he gets to chew on something. Isn't 3/12 months too early for teeth?

  1. Hi

3/4months they start to teeth, how to tell is yes they start drooling or get unhappy or red patches on there cheek even a runny nose. Get a teething ring or bicky pegs

    Good luck

  2. At around 3 months of age, the body starts to produce saliva, and most babies have absolutely no idea how to swallow it.  Most bubs tend to start drooling a lot at this age because of this and it really has nothing to do with teething.  Putting things into the mouth is another milestone that starts to occur around this age also and is an important part of your childs sensory development.  that said, some bubs are born with teeth so it is definately not unheard of for a 3 1/2 month old to be teething.  my little one has just cut his first two teeth at 6 months and the main thing i noticed was how swollen his little gums were a few weeks before they cut through.  He also got really irritable the night before they cut through.

  3. It may not be too early, My son drooled a lot at 3 months, but got his first teeth at 5 months.  It varies from child to child. He may get his teeth very soon.

  4. when they grab your finger (yea cute the baby is playing with your finger)

    then he bites ya lol

  5. thouse are the typical signs for teething, drooling and put everything in there mouth they can and chew on it...

i don't think 3 and a half month are to earlie i think thats in the normal time...so don't worry..everythings fine..:-)

  6. my son will be 4 months next week and he's been doing the same thing for a month now.  it's definitely not too early.  though when they start early it may take longer for it to break through. so we have to stay patient and play the waiting game.

good luck with your little one!

  7. Just checked my kids' baby books. Both different one cut 1st tooth at 5 mths the other at 8 mths - no fast rule as everyone is different. With my kids their gums tended to swell and be a bit red and could get grizzly & rather upset. But I can remember one getting a tooth without a whinge at all! Pop you finger in your baby's mouth a feel his gum, even rub it a bit- not hard of course. If there is a tooth coming up you may possibly feel it and he might get some relief by having your finger to chew on. Most babies put things in their mouths it is another way that they can feel things. Good Luck with bubs and enjoy him - Christmas will be fun with him this year he'll love the paper!!!
