How do you know when your stimulus will be off set?? the on line site says on bottom of page my boy friend is

gonna get 300 dollars but pls note that if he owes c support and if he owes any thing else he gets 0 of stimulis check...SO DO YOU THINK HE IS GETTIN OFF SET

He'd know if he owes back taxes, child support, or unpaid student loans.  Or at least he SHOULD know!  And if he does, the rebate will be captured and applied to those debts first.  If anything remains after the debts are paid, he'll get the difference, if any.

He can call 1-800-304-3107 to see if he's been flagged for an offset.  Additionally, if his tax refund was offset, his rebate probably will be as well.

Edit:  Making weekly payments on the child support debt won't stop the offset.  At least it will reduce the amount that he owes.

Are you aware of any reason that there should be an offset like back child support payments, an unpaid student loan, or back taxes owed?  If so, then yes, he will not get his rebate check.  Ask him.

Did the irs intercept his regular income tax return? That is if he was due a refund.

Also I think that people that have been or are going to be off set will get a notice in the mail prior to recieving a check.

  It also depends on HOW MUCH  back he owes. There are thresholds in place that state that the person paying must be a certain amount behind. It use to be $500.  And in addition to that the local child support agency must set up the interception by a certain point. I dont know what point that is now, but it use to be before Jan. 1st of the filing year.

  I am in my last 6 months of paying child support in which in paid for 17 and a half years. Been through it all. I am current now. But have been behind and it slipped by due to some of the requirements that I have mentioned above.
