Once you become a fairly decent player, you hit the ball where you're wanting the ball to go.  When I play, if I don't see the ball when I hit it, 90% of the time it went to the right.  Typically you play with other people, so if you don't see it, hopefully one of them did.

Simple. Take your glove off, put your hand in your pocket and feel around.

when you get better you can tell by the divot and by the way you feel you hit it. That was practice activity for me my first year in college golf was to hit it and keep my head down so i would have to tell the coach where i thought it went. If not, set it on fire, you can always find a flamin' ball.

Watch it  after the follow up, or have a buddy play with you so he can help you spot it.
