Question:

How do you learn to fire dance?

I saw a demonstration last night and it was beautiful. I suspect I couldn't register for a class down at the local Y or community college. So do you apprentice with a practiced fire dancer or do you just start of with a couple of torches and hope you don't set your own hair on fire? Not looking for a career change - just think it would be cool to learn.

  1. Very quickly if you want to do it again.

Seriously, though, you need to find a place where the rite is commonly practised, travel there, and have the local fire-dancers instruct you.

If you are in or near to Los Angeles, you could look up the Temple of Poi.  They have classes open to the public.

QUILL - do you smell burning?

  2. Go to Hawaii and take a class. :)

  3. I would check for local entertainment companies - like the ones that you book for parties. They usually have performers that you can ask for lessons.
